Our location is perfect for those in the local area, shopping at Liverpool One, browsing along Bold Street, or having business meetings nearby. With Barnacle’s central location in the city, the restaurant is easily accessible, making it an ideal spot for those looking for a pit-stop. Stylish and casual décor makes for a comfortable dining room, providing for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. Our restaurant is based on the mezzanine level inside Duke Street Market, is therefore spacious, and can accommodate both small and large groups.
All of our menus consist of seasonal and locally sourced produce, and the Express is no exception. With two courses and a glass of house wine for just £28.
For starters, you can choose between dishes like our own turkey terrine with endive, shimeji and preserved lemon (GF), or a velouté of Ormskirk parsnip with Brussels sprouts and buerre noisette (V).
For the main course, you can choose between Ox cheek, with signature Barnacle mash, Roscoff onion and beetroot; or Hake from Peterhead, with turnip Jerusalem artichoke, and Growing fields rainbow chard. And last but certainly not least, a celeriac dish which is entirely vegan with Ormskirk leeks, Connage Smithys mushrooms (V). The Peterhead hake is sourced through local monger Wards in Birkenhead, while the cumbrian ox cheek is slow braised for approximately 5 hours before it is presented on your plate.
Our Express Menu also offers an optional dessert for those looking to indulge in something sweet. Choose between a sweet pavlova of winter berries, and a selection of 3 celtic cheeses, chutney & crackers.
Included in our “Express Menu” at Barnacle, is a glass of house wine to go with your meal. A carefully selected range of Red, White or Rose from the Castorani Estate in Abruzzo, Italy. The choice is yours!
